Signal Mountain Health Track: Get a bird's view of the city of Port Louis and the western coast

Health, view and eye satisfaction

If you want to have the best panoramic view of the city of Port Louis for free, then there is no better place than the Health Track of Signal Mountain.  Be it for your health and for the scenery, you will surely never regret this fruitful experience.

Unknown to many...

Though we have a high concentration of the Mauritian population in the vicinity of the health track , it is really unfortunate that many are unaware of its existence and the purpose it serves.  It's one of the best place  to burn your calories for free and at the same time enjoying it!

About the track...

Though the mountain is about 320 metres, the track is 3000 metres long (3 kilometres), bordered by beautiful vegetation and sometimes the mountain (rocks have been cut to make the road). However when you will reach the end of the official track, there are 2 peaks on both sides - you can continue your walk if your legs don't need rest (Do not forget that you will have another 3000m to climb down).

At every 500 metres, there will be a board indicating the distance walked.

As you climb higher, you get a better and greater view of the city, with the buildings appearing smaller and smaller. At the end of the track you will also be able to a great view of the harbour, the western coast, GRNW, part of the northern coast, Pailles  and not forgetting some of the highest peaks in Mauritius.

Walk or drive?

While there is greater fun in walking the 3000m, you can also drive up to the top of the mountain during weekdays and during a specific period of time. You may have the police coming to fetch you during unallowed hours - especially when the place is highly frequented during the weekends.

Facilities

There is a parking available at the start of the health track. At some point on the track there will some exercising equipment. At the end of the track there is a parking and a small park with benches for you to relax. Remember not to litter around, but to use the dustbins there.

Put on your shoes and have a nice walk!
